Itinerary
Day 1 Rovaniemi Arrival
Private transfer from Rovaniemi airport to Lapland Hotel Sky Ounasvaara or similar, check in for three nights accommodation. If your flight arrives in the morning, you may consider an afternoon optional Husky Walk excursion - your guide will share knowledge of the life of the sled dogs at the husky farm. The hike with the huskies is on easy terrain, you may spot arctic shrubs, berries, birds and perhaps animals inhabiting the forests. After the hike, return the huskies to the kennels followed by snacks around the campfire. Remainder of the day at leisure in Rovaniemi.
Day 2 Santa Claus Safari by Riverboat, Reindeer Farm and Arctic Circle Crossing
Today is filled with the magic of Lapland in summer. A riverboat cruise to a handicraft workshop, visit to a reindeer farm and Santa Claus Village. Cruise to your first destination by Ounasjoki River. On shore, visit a traditional Lappish home, where a local family warmly welcomes you into their home and handicraft workshop. Continue by boat to a reindeer farm by the river. Here you will be served lunch, learn about reindeer herding and take part in a ceremonial crossing of the Arctic Circle. Continue by car to Santa Claus Village, where you will have the opportunity to meet Santa. Time at leisure to explore the village before returning to your hotel.
Day 3 Midnight Sun Cruise / Summer Night Cruise to Kotisaari
Day at leisure or morning optional Finnish Nature excursion - guided berry picking and wild water fishing. Depending on the season you will find cloudberries, blueberries, lingonberries, cranberries, crowberries and mushrooms. Relax by a campfire while your guide prepares traditional Finnish pancakes, topped with freshly picked berries. Try fishing using a simple rod and hook.
Evening excursion depending on the time of year:
01 June - 31 July: Midnight Sun Cruise at 21:30hrs
Cruise in a long wooden riverboat to the shores of Kotisaari, a tiny river island. Experience the warmth of the campfire under the Midnight Sun, surrounded by tranquil nature. Your guide will prepare a snack. Just before midnight raise a toast to the Midnight Sun with a glass of sparkling wine. Even if the sky is cloudy, the bright night in the Arctic is an amazing experience.
01 - 31 August: Summer Night Cruise at 19:00hrs
Same program as above with an earlier departure and no midnight toast.
Day 4 Rovaniemi Departure
Following breakfast and check-out, transfer to Rovaniemi airport and end of arrangements.
