Stay in a log cabin and a Glass Igloo, at Kakslauttanen, Northern Finland. Located in the remote and beautiful Saariselka fell area of Urho Kekkonen National Park, you will enjoy a Husky Safari and a Reindeer Safari. There are also many other activities on offer, with something for everyone. At night, you may even see the Aurora Borealis as it lights up the night sky. In this quiet and forested country area, there is no light pollution - all you have to do to seek the Northern Lights is go outside and look up.
Transfer from Ivalo Airport to Kakslauttanen. On your arrival at the Resort your luggage will be taken to your cabin, whilst you walk. Tonight you will stay in a cosy log cabin, complete with kitchenette, fireplace, private facilities and a sauna. Cabins come in various sizes and can accommodate 2-10 persons. The remainder of the day at leisure - perhaps visit the glass kota & ice chapel within the village. Or enjoy some of the other optional excursions which include a snowmobile safari, ice-fishing and snow tank rides.
After an introduction and safety briefing, start out on a guided dog-sledding safari. Experience the wonders of Winter nature as you travel over snowy tracks and through forests. Lunch is served before returning to the village. Remainder of the day at leisure.
Today enjoy an exciting visit to a local reindeer farm by snowmobile. After a safety briefing and driving lesson, drive across the snowy landscapes, with two persons sharing each snowmobile. On reaching the farm, learn all about the Sami peoples' traditions and ways of life, before a short reindeer sleigh ride. Lunch is served in a herdsman's hut during the excursion. (If you have small children or do not have a driver's license, you can instead join a shorter reindeer safari which does not include any snowmobiling). Return to the village for time at leisure. Tonight you will stay in a Glass Igloo - a truly different experience! Your luggage will be picked up from your cabin and stored in the hotel's Luggage Room, whilst you walk or take the shuttle to the Reception desk, to check-in to your Igloo (room temperature inside). As you lay in comfort, gaze up through the glass roof and you may see the amazing Aurora Borealis. Small glass igloos have a toilet and washbasin - shared saunas and private showers are located in a separate building nearby that also has towels, hair dryers, shampoo and soap. Large Glass Igloos also have a shower.
Enjoy a morning sauna and breakfast, before transferring to Ivalo Airport.
The day of your overnight stay in the Igloo will vary according to availability.
The excursions may alter according to the day of the week your arrangements start.
All excursions operate with a minimum of 2 persons. If you are a solo traveller and there is no second person booked on an excursion, you may be required to pay additional fees in order for the excursion to proceed.
