This tour offers you the chance to see two unique destinations in winter - Iceland and Greenland. Start from Reykjavik then continue on to UNESCO World Heritage listed Ilulissat, Greenland. This town is the perfect destination to see icebergs, with breathtaking views over the Inland Ice Cap and fjords, as you fly in. Witness the majestic beauty of Greenlandic nature and enjoy optional winter activities such as dog-sledding, a cruise on the Fjord to see gigantic icebergs, searching for the Northern Lights on a clear night and much more. Then return to Reykjavik for two further nights and enjoy a guided tour of the fabulous Golden Circle including Thingvellir National Park, Geysir geothermal area and amazing, Gullfoss waterfall.


Day 1 Reykjavik Arrrival

On arrival at Keflavik International Airport take the coach transfer to your hotel. Time at leisure to explore. The city centre is a small area characterised by eclectic and colourful houses, good shopping, dining and drinking. Reykjavík has recently established itself as a haven for food lovers, with numerous restaurants taking advantage of the abundance of local seafood, meat and game. Reykjavik also has many wonderful museums including the National Museum displaying artefacts from the first settlement to the modern age, giving an excellent overview of Iceland's history and culture, the Reykjavik 871+2 Settlement Museum, an archaeological museum based around a 10th century Viking longhouse unearthed in 2001, the Reykjavik Art Museum and the National Gallery. 1 night at Hotel Reykjavik Centrum or similar. 

Day 2 Reykjavik - Ilulissat, Greenland 

Breakfast at your hotel. Then transfer to the Reykjavik Domestic Airport for your flight to Ilulissat. On arrival, meet your local guide and transfer to the hotel, for a welcome meeting followed by a guided town walk. Visit the old part of town to see the original buildings dating from the early settlement of this former Danish trading station, the busy fishing harbour, the old Zion Church and the museum. Dinner at the hotel tonight. 3 nights at Hotel Arctic or simlar. 

Days 3 and 4 Ilulissat: Days at Leisure for Optional Excursions

A day for you to choose what you would like to do. Relax at the hotel, take a walk or add one of the great optional excursions offered. These are :

Search for the Northern Lights by snowshoe 2hrs: Experience the amazing Northern Light on this guided snow shoe walk. Provided with a headlight we will walk safely into the landscape, and your guide will tell you all about this natural phenomenon and the inuits legends and traditions.

Hike UNESCO Icefjord and Sermermiut 2hrs: Enjoy a beautiful guided walk along the UNESCO designated Ilulissat Ice Fjord to Sermermiut, where traces from the 3 old Inuit cultures can still be seen. Sermermiut is a fertile valley next to the Ice Fjord and here you can enjoy the snowy landscapes as well as the fantastic icebergs. 

Husky Safari 2hrs: leave the civilized world and enter an Arctic wonderland of low passes and ice covered fjords, where icebergs raise like sculptures and you feel you could have travelled back in time into the world of the old polar explorers. 2 persons share each dog sled.

Snowshoe Walk to View the Icebergs 4hrs: A guided snowshoe walk following the Yellow Trail to enjoy the panoramic view of the Sermermiut Valley, the icebergs and Disko Bay.

Dinner at the hotel each night. 

Day 5 Ilulissat - Reykjavik, Iceland  

Transfer to the airport for your flight back to Iceland.  On arrival at the airport, transfer to your Reykjavik hotel. 2 nights at Hotel Reykjavik Centrum or similar.

Day 6  Reykjavik: Golden Circle Thingvellir National Park, Gulfoss Waterfall and Geysir Geothermal Area

Today visit the three most famed natural attractions in Iceland: Thingvellir National Park, the Geysir geothermal area and the amazing waterfall Gullfoss, collectively known as the Golden Circle. Start by driving around southern Iceland's fertile lands to visit one of the most magnificent waterfalls, Gullfoss. Onwards to the erupting geysirs, bubbling mud pols and hot springs in the Geysir area, before arriving at beautiful Þingvellir National Park. Here, the world's oldest parliament was founded in the year 930AD and the European and American tectonic plates almost meet in a spectacular setting. Tonight enjoy a traditional Icelandic Fish Buffet dinner at Resturant Reykjavik. 2nd overnight in Reykjavik.

Day 7 Reykjavik Departure

Your tour arrangements end today with your transfer to Keflavik Airport.
