Stavanger and Pulpit Rock

Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger and the famous Pulpit Rock

This tour takes you from Oslo to Bergen through the heart of Norway, via the town of Stavanger, where you will cruise to the famous Pulpit Rock. You can do this tour in reverse, or add extra nights in Oslo, Bergen and/or Stavanger - please ask us.

Itinerary

Day 1 Oslo Arrival

Arrive in Oslo and make your own way to your hotel. Time at leisure to explore Oslo on your own. Perhaps enjoy some of Oslo's fine museums including the Fram Polar Expedition Museum, the Kon Tiki Museum and Vigelund Sculpture Park. Also take a stroll through the old wharf area of Bryggen, now bustling with bars and cafes. Or visit the Munch Museum, the Maritime Museum and the KonTiki Museum, or Akershus Fortress. Overnight and breakfast at Clarion Hotel The Hub or similar. 

Day 2 Oslo - Stavanger

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before making your way to Oslo's Central Station for departure by train to Stavanger, a journey that takes you past narrow fjords, wild mountains, open seas and in part along the stunning coastline. On arrrival in Stavanger, make your own way to your hotel. 2 nights at the Clarion Collection Hotel Skagen Brygge or similar.

Day 3 Stavanger: Pulpit Rock Cruise

Breakfast at your hotel then make your own way to the ferry wharf for the cruise to Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock), east of Stavanger. Between January-March and October-December, this cruise only operates Friday to Sunday.  This amazing sightseeing tour takes 3 hours, with the famous Pulpit Rock in the starring role – and an impressive supporting cast of waterfalls, idyllic islands and magnificent scenery. On board the boat there is a sun deck and kiosk. Please note: the operation of the Pulpit Rock cruise is dependent upon weather conditions and also requires a minimum of 15 persons to operate. Optional afternoon hike to Preikestolen, to see the view of the fjord from above, duration 5hrs. You must be in good physical condition for this option. 2nd overnight at Clarion Collection Hotel Skagen Brygge or similar. 

Day 4 Stavanger - Bergen

Breakfast at your hotel before making your own way to Risavika Port for the ferry to Bergen (5.5hrs). Or you can choose to take the bus to Bergen instead. The bus travels along the scenic coastline to Bergen and the journey takes approximately 5hrs. The bus station in Stavanger is in a central location, whereas the port in Stavanger (Risavika) is located further out of the centre (20-30 minute drive). Bergen is a lively city beautifully situated on the fjord & surrounded by 7 mountains, with a long history as a Hanseatic trading port. Walk along Bryggen, the historic old wharf area with timbered houses, formerly the homes and warehouses of wealthy merchants, explore the fish and flowers markets and enjoy a meal in one of the many cafes and restaurants of this lovely historic Hanseatic town. And make sure you take the funicular ride up to Mt Fløien for a panoramic view of Bergen and its surroundings. On arrival in Bergen make your own way to your hotel for the night. Overnight at Hordaheimen Hotel or similar.

Day 5 Bergen Departure

Breakfast at your hotel and end of arrangements.

You can do this tour in reverse, or add extra nights in Oslo, Bergen and/or Stavanger. Or, on the final day, you can add the train from Bergen back to Oslo - please enquire.
