Tromso Classic Break

The Arctic Capital
Tromso, Norway © Bard Loeken/NordNorge

During your stay in Tromso enjoy the landscape, nature and history that this city has to offer.  Between late May and late July experience the Midnight Sun, where the sun barely dips below the horizon through until August, enabling you to enjoy endless days exploring this 'gateway to the Arctic' in Northern Norway.

Day 1 Tromso Arrival

Private transfer from Tromso airport to Clarion Hotel the Edge or similar, check in for 3 nights accommodation. This university town has a lively atmosphere and friendly locals. Perhaps visit the Polaria Aquarium (don't miss the Northern Lights & Spitsbergen Arctic Wilderness films), the Polar Museum to learn about the role Tromso has played in Arctic exploration, and the MS Polstjerna, a well preserved sailing vessel from 1949. Or visit one of the several excellent art museums, or sample some local beer at Mack Brewery, the world's northernmost brewery with guided tours that take you through 130 years of beer brewing history.

Day 2 Tromso - Day at Leisure: Optional Sea Kayaking

Day at leisure in Tromso or optional morning Sea Kayaking excursion - guided paddle along the beautiful coast of Håkøya-Island, with the wild mountains around Tromso as a scenic background. If you are lucky, get close to arctic wildlife such porpoises, seals and sea eagles. Sturdy double kayaks make previous experience unnecessary. Single kayaks for the more experienced are available on request. Return to Tromso city centre. Available Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, 01 June - 31 August.

Day 3 Tromso: Visit the Huskies

Morning at leisure in Tromso. Afternoon Husky excursion, which departs from the city centre. Explore the world of competitive dog sled racing and visit 300 Alaskan huskies and their puppies. Not only are they cute and cuddly, but also professional athletes. The teams have competed numerous times in the world's most extreme dog sled races – follow their journey through Finnmarksløpet in the movie. You can cuddle the dogs while your guide tells you about husky training and care. Return to Tromso city centre and time at leisure.

Day 4 Tromso Departure

Following breakfast and check-out, transfer to Tromso airport and end of arrangements.
