Tromso, Norway © Bard Loeken/NordNorge

During your stay in Tromso enjoy the landscape, nature and history that this city has to offer. Between June and late July experience the Midnight Sun, where the sun barely dips below the horizon through until August, enabling you to enjoy endless days exploring this 'gateway to the Arctic' in Northern Norway. Late August to October offers an opportunity to see the elusive Northern Lights, if conditions are right.

Itinerary

Day 1 Tromso Arrival

Private transfer from Tromso airport to Scandic Ishavshotel Tromso or similar, check in for 3 nights accommodation. This university town has a lively atmosphere and friendly locals. Perhaps visit the Polaria Aquarium (don't miss the Northern Lights & Spitsbergen Arctic Wilderness films), the Polar Museum to learn about the role Tromso has played in Arctic exploration, and the MS Polstjerna, a well preserved sailing vessel from 1949. Or visit one of the several excellent art museums, or sample some local beer at Mack Brewery, the world's northernmost brewery with guided tours that take you through 130 years of beer brewing history.

Day 2 Cable Car and Arctic Cathedral, optional Evening Sightseeing Cruise

Morning privately guided tour to Fjellheisen Cable Car to enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Tromsø and the surrounding islands, mountains, and fjords. Then visit the magnificant Arctic Cathedral. Return to Tromso city centre and time at leisure.

Evening optional Sightseeing Cruise around Tromso island. The adventure starts from Tromso harbor, and while at sea, you’ll learn about the sights and landmarks of the Arctic capital. Relax and enjoy the on-board facilites, including a jacuzzi, sauna and bar. If conditions are right for late August - October departures, there may be a chance to see the elusive Northern Lights. Take spectacular photographs on the deck with the city sights and the awe-inspiring scenery, right until it’s time to venture back to the shore.
