This tour combines visits to the two Russian cities of St. Petersburg and Moscow, with a Russian New Year Gala in St. Petersburg.

Itinerary

29 December St. Petersburg Arrival and Welcome Dinner

Arrival in St. Petersburg, and transfer to the 4 star Hotel Ambassador or similar, for check-in. Time at leisure in this beautiful Imperial city, then tonight enjoy a welcome dinner at the hotel.

30 December St. Petersburg City Sightseeing and Pavlovsk Palace and Troika Ride

St. Petersburg is an amazing city. Its imperial palaces and museums enjoy worldwide fame, while the Neva River and the many canals have deservedly given the city the title “The Venice of the North”. When the city is covered in snow it has a special romantic atmosphere. During the morning sightseeing tour we get acquainted with all the splendours of the city: the Winter Palace, St. Isaac's Cathedral, the Church of the Bleeding Saviour, the Nevsky Convent and much more. Afternoon visit to Pavlovsk with the impressive Pavlovsk Palace and experience a real Russian Winter adventure during an unforgettable troika ride.

31 December Hermitage Art Museum and New Year Gala

Morning visit to the world-famous Hermitage Art Museum. In the evening we enjoy an entertaining and fabulous Russian New Year Gala at the hotel.

01 January St. Petersburg: Kazan Cathedral and Yusupov Palace and Farewell Russian Dinner

Morning visit to a holy mass in the Orthodox Kazan Cathedral and a visit to the Yusupov Palace, once a residence of one of the wealthiest and most influential families in Russia. The Palace on the Moika River was built in the middle of the 18th century by famous French architect Vallin de la Mothe. The Palace impresses with magnificence of decoration and style as well as its historical past. In the evening enjoy a farewell dinner at Restaurant Demidov.

02 January St. Petersburg - Moscow

Morning at leisure. Around noon, transfer to the Railway Station and board the Sapsan high-speed train bound for Moscow. The train ride takes us through endless Russian landscapes along the River Volga. Late afternoon arrival in Moscow, for accommodation at Hotel Mercure Arbat or similar.

03 January Moscow: Kremlin, Cathedrals, Metro & Icebreaker Cruise

Moscow, the Mother of Russia, is a genuine Russian city with the Kremlin and its onion domed cathedrals. The dramatic changes over the last decade have made the city one of the most dynamic metropolis in the world. Morning sightseeing includes all the highlights of this vast city - Red Square with the Kremlin, Theatre Square with the Bolshoi Theatre, Sparrow Hills with Moscow University and the Kremlin grounds including one of the cathedrals. Afternoon visit to the famous Moscow Metro including the stations along the Ring Line, followed by a guided stroll along famous Arbat Street, is offered. Evening Icebreaker Cruise on the Moscow River to admire the illuminated centre of Moscow by night.

04 January Moscow: Novodevichy Convent and Tretyakov Gallery

Morning excursion to Novodevichy Convent, a 16th century cluster of sparkling domes, one of the city's most beautiful groups of buildings, full of history and treasures. The adjacent Novodevichy Cemetery is Moscow‘s most prestigious resting place after the Kremlin. The balance of the day is reserved for an optional excursion to the Tretyakov Gallery with its outstanding collection of French impressionists. Evening farewell dinner at Restaurant Glapivtorg.

05 January Moscow Departure

Private transfer from hotel to the airport and end of arrangements.
