Escorted winter highlights of these two great Russian cities, from palatial wonders to the treasures of the art galleries and cultural masterpieces.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive Moscow

Private transfer from the airport to Hotel Azimut Smolenskaya or similar; check-in and early evening welcome meeting with your tour escort & fellow guests.

Day 2 Moscow: Kremlin, Cathedrals, Metro & River Cruise

Moscow, the Mother of Russia, is a genuine Russian city with the Kremlin and its onion domed cathedrals. The dramatic changes over the last decade have made the city to one of the most dynamic metropolis in the world. The morning sightseeing tour includes all the highlights of the vast city: the Red Square with Kremlin, the Theatre Square with Bolshoi Theatre, Sparrow Hills with Moscow University and a visit to the famous Moscow Metro including the historical stations on the Ring-Line. Afternoon excursion to the Kremlin grounds, where we see Ivan the Great Bell Tower and visit one of the cathedrals. Evening ice-breaker cruise on the Moscow River to admire the illuminated centre of Moscow by night.

Day 3 Moscow: Sergiev Posad

Full day excursion to the quaint town of Sergiev Posad, where we visit the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius, the most important Russian monastery and the spiritual heart of the Russian Orthodox Church. 

Day 4 Moscow – St. Petersburg by Train

Morning at leisure, around noon we go to the railway station and board the Sapsan high-speed train bound for St. Petersburg. Traverse endless snow-cladded Russian landscapes along the River Volga. Evening arrival to St.Petersburg and check in at Hotel Sokos Vasilievsky or similar.

Day 5 St. Petersburg: Imperial City Tour

This is an amazing city where Imperial palaces and museums enjoy worldwide fame, while the Neva River and the many canals have deservedly given the city the title, Venice of the North. When the city is covered in snow it has a special romantic atmosphere. During the morning sightseeing tour, become acquainted with all the splendours of the city: The Winter Palace, St. Isaac’s Cathedral, the Church of the Bleeding Saviour, the Nevsky Convent and much more. Afternoon visit to the world-famous Hermitage Art Museum.

Day 6 St. Petersburg: Zarskoye Selo, Catherine's Palace and Amber Room

Morning excursion to Zarskoye Selo with the impressive Catherine’s Palace and the Amber Room, which vanished during World War II and was restored for St. Petersburg’s tri-centennial celebrations. Afternoon at leisure.

Day 7 St. Petersburg Departure

Private transfer from hotel to the airport and end of arrangements.
