Itinerary

23 December Ivalo Arrival

On arrival into Ivalo Airport, transfer to Aurora Village Ivalo for 4 nights stay in a warm Aurora Glass Cabin with private facilities. Collect your thermal clothing rental. Dinner tonight at the Aurora Village restaurant.

24 – 26 December Winter and Festive Activities

The next three days are filled with some amazing winter fun and festive activities! Depending on your flight arrival time, you may have an excursion scheduled during the afternoon/evening of Day 1. Meals are served each day at the Aurora Village restaurant, including festive dinners on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Christmas Eve celebrations include Meet Santa, decorate the Christmas tree and taste traditional Finnish rice porridge.

Christmas Day includes a Snow Fun Day with Finnish outdoor games, ice skates, cross-country skis and tobogganing.

Included activities:

Evening Aurora Chase: (choose ONE of the following, subject to availability): Aurora Sleigh Adventure OR Aurora Chase by Car OR Aurora Hunt by Snowmobile OR Aurora Chase on Showshoes.

Reindeer Activities: take a nice bag of lichen to feed the local reindeer. With a little patience they will eat from your hand. This is a good time to take photographs. Your reindeer sleigh will take you on a peaceful Winter adventure in a traditional ‘raito' form where the reindeer walk one after another each pulling a sleigh. Sit back and enjoy the 800m sleigh ride through the snowy forest.

Guided Snowmobiling: through the Arctic Winter forests across the frozen river while admiring the beauty of the Lappish nature. There are a couple of stops for taking amazing photos and chatting with your guide about life in Lapland. 2 persons share a snowmobile. Valid driver's license required.

Husky Safari: transfer to the nearby husky farm. You will be given instructions on how to control the husky sleds, which you will ride in pairs, one sitting in the sleigh and the other one mushing. Hot drinks at the half-way point and you may swap places before heading back.

Snowshoeing: Today you will put on a pair of snowshoes and follow the guide on the wintry forest paths. If we are lucky we might observe some animal tracks in the forest and maybe even see some arctic animals.

Introduction to Cross Country Skiing: learn basic skiing techniques with your guide. The tracks are easy enough for beginners and the length of the trip can be adjusted according to your skill level. Enjoy the nature and the silence.

Optional activity: Santa Meeting in Santa's Cabin - you’ll be seated in a Snowmobile towed sleigh with fur covers to keep you warm. During the short sleigh ride you can enjoy the peace of the snowy forest and the feeling of a Christmas adventure in the air. Stop in a secret location deep in the forest, followed by a short walk to Santa's hide-out cabin. Meet Santa Claus himself before returning by sleigh back to Aurora Village with a small gift from Santa. Small group size, maximum 8 persons. Duration 45-60 minutes.
