The Northern Lights are one of the most fascinating natural wonders of the world. The night skies above the Arctic Circle can shimmer with vivid colours and shapes as the Lights swirl dramatically across the north. This tour offers 3 nights in a cosy Aurora Cabin at the Northern Lights Village, daily breakfast and dinner, plus a Husky Safari, a Northern Lights Hunt by Heated Sleigh and either a Reindeer Safari or Search for Santa. There is plenty of time to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings or add optional excursions to suit your interests. A great introduction to winter in Lapland.

Itinerary

Day 1 Ivalo Arrival - Saariselka

Transfer from Ivalo airport to the Northern Lights Village, located approximately 30 minutes away in Saariselka. Check in to your cosy Aurora Cabin with private facilities for three nights. The laser heated glass roof looks up to the Northern sky, a perfect way to search for the Northern lights whilst laying warm and snug in your bed. Dinner at the village and perhaps time for an evening optional Northern Lights Hunt - on Snowshoes; by Snowmobile; by bus to the Lake or by bus to the Border.

Day 2 Husky Safari and Northern Lights Hunt by Heated Sleigh

Breakfast at the village and late morning Husky Safari. Driving a team of huskies over the white, shimmering fells is an exhilarating experience. The husky safari starts nearby and takes you on a ride over the untouched snow and the forests surrounding the Northern Lights Village. Afternoon at leisure or add an optional excursion - snowmobiling or snowshoeing. After dinner get ready for a Northern Lights Hunt by Heated Sleigh. The silent, snow-covered forest, the nocturnal fell on the edge of the boundless wilderness, and the magical sky above you. Take a seat in the heated Aurora sleigh and enjoy! Your guide tows the sleigh with a snowmobile through the snowy landscape, all the way to the top of the fell, far away from light pollution. After arriving, we prepare our cameras and take photographs of the northern night sky. Wait and hope for the Aurora Borealis to appear in comfort by the fire, enjoying hot drinks and listening to tales of the north.

Day 3 Reindeer Safari or Search for Santa

Breakfast at the village and morning at leisure. Your choice of afternoon Reindeer Safari OR Search for Santa Excursion. Reindeer Safari - meet a reindeer breeder and learn about reindeer and the Sámi people. You also get to feed the reindeer and drive a reindeer sleigh through the snowy forest. Experience how Laplanders used to move around before snowmobiles arrived in the northern wilderness. Search for Santa Excursion - Santa’s little helper Elf will be your guide. Start with gingerbread baking at the elves' turf house kitchen, then meet Santa’s reindeer. Take a (short) ride on the reindeer-drawn sleigh through the snowy forest. Then, it is time to search for Santa’s secret cabin. The Elf will drive you on a heated sleigh pulled by snowmobile into the forest. If you can find the cabin, Santa will welcome your family in for a private chat and offer a symbolical gift. Dinner at the village and time for an evening optional Northern Lights Hunt - on Snowshoes; by Snowmobile; by bus to the Lake or by bus to the Border.
